More than 300 participants joined Metroselskabet and Hovedstadens Letbane for the Supplier Information Day to learn about the procurement process, the Danish Model and health and safety aspects.

On the 19th of October, company representatives from many different countries met up to learn more about the procurement process for the upcoming projects for Metroselskabet (metro) and Hovedstadens Letbane (light rail) at the Supplier Information Day.

The purpose of the day was to attract as many qualified companies as possible and to facilitate dialogue between the potential contractors on the future projects.

An overwhelming number of participants
The event included 317 participants from 152 danish and international companies along with a number of relevant stakeholders.

“We received far more participants than we had expected, including a variety of large Danish and foreign entrepreneurs and subcontractors and many interesting questions from participants. Obviously, we are thrilled that the projects attract so much attention from all of these companies. I hope that we will get positive results from the dialogue and from informing entrepreneurs and subcontractors this early in the process,” says Henrik Plougmann Olsen, CEO, Metroselskabet and Hovedstadens Letbane.

Among other things, the participants were presented with information about the time frame, tender process, scope and different types of contracts. Also, The Danish Confederation of Trade Unions and the Danish Construction Association presented the framework conditions on the Danish labour market and informed the participants about Metroselskabet’s and Hovedstadens Letbane’s requirements for the work environment.

Prequalification
Metroselskabet and Hovedstadens Letbane will construct more than 50 metro- and light rail stations in the coming years. And according to an analysis conducted by the Danish Agency for Labour Market and Recruitment, the expected number of jobs on the Sydhavn Project and the Light Rail together consists of 6000 man-years.

Metroselskabet and Hovedstadens Letbane expect that the prequalification for the Greater Copenhagen Light Rail will begin in November 2015 while the prequalification for the metro in Sydhavnen will begin a few months later.
